Homebrew (the package manager for macOS) blocked their update to SDL 2.0.9 because they have issues with dylib version compatibility when testing the build on macOS 10.12 and 10.13, as detailed there: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/pull/33781

It seems to be due to this update https://hg.libsdl.org/SDL/diff/1a1133e9c7d4/build-scripts/ltmain.sh
