Hi, i'm just opening the bug to follow up the discussion here: http://forums.libsdl.org/viewtopic.php?t=6957&sid=c0fd687d04dfc2c1ca2895654f4e345b

Basically it would be nice to have the freetype library independent of x11 presence for better osx integration (and macappstore approval process)
