The configure script for my mingw setup failed due to the issue that "sdl-config" is missing.
SDL 2 only sets the SDL2-config. Although its probably only temporary ( is it? ), it will be helpful to provide an SDL2 compatible makefile.

This is fixed with the SDL_image 2.0 release candidate:
